Here is another reason why bad things happen to good people:
When you become too focused on what others are doing, you lose track of yourself. The more energy you pour into watching, analysing, or worrying about the actions of others, the less time, space, and awareness you have for your own choices and well-being.
There are risks in over-focusing on others that include:
- Missed opportunities—Being distracted by others can cause you to overlook chances that could benefit you.
- Accidents and mistakes—A lack of attention to your own actions can lead to avoidable errors.
- Increased stress—Constantly monitoring others can drain emotional and mental energy.
- Physical health impact—Stress, especially when long-term, takes a toll on the body.
Prioritising yourself isn’t selfish, it’s necessary. By taking care of your own needs first, you build the strength and stability to show up fully for others when they truly need you. A balanced life begins with self-awareness, and when you nurture yourself, you create more energy and space to support others from a place of abundance, not depletion.
