More Power to You

You can extract a little magic from the manifestation process.

The skills, knowledge and experience you gain from the process will bring you closer to self-authoring your life. Both allow you to move beyond the past, be more present and generate future possibilities. Manifesting a desire and self-authoring your life can boost your sense of personal authority.

Self-authorship is an adult learning theory. It describes a life-long process of learning from your life’s challenges. It’s how you become the creator of your life story. You write and rewrite your story by thinking about your past, present and future. I’ve been teaching clients and students how to author their life since 1997. (You know of course, that I use archetypes to do it.)

To be the author of your life means you choose to take each life challenge as an assignment, a task to master, a lesson, an opportunity to explore and discover something new about yourself, others and the world everyday.

The benefits are worth the effort. When you reflect on where you’ve come from, and think about where you are now and where you want to be, you begin to learn how to take responsibility for your role in your life, for your thoughts, and your response to them. You’re able to hold yourself more accountable. You start to recognise how you sabotage yourself and others, and how they sabotage you.

Research by self-authoring.com has shown that writing and rewriting your stories improves your outlook and engagement with life by reducing anxiety and depression, and increasing productivity and persistence. All of which can lead to better physical health.

As one of the first steps to self-authorship, the manifestation process teaches that:

⁃ Your current thoughts play a major role in contributing to your present life and the creation of your future.

⁃ Your actions can change the way you think and feel.

⁃ You have the capacity to pick and choose your thoughts.

Achieving a successful manifestation will have taught you to take personal responsibility, to be personally accountable, and to compromise and collaborate with specific aspects of your character. You will have begun to examine and rectify the many ways you sabotage yourself and others, and how they sabotage you. You will have learnt that you can select some thoughts and eject others in order to achieve what you want.

You will have recognised and resolved the conflict between like attracts like and opposites attract, a conflict that arises during every manifestation process. You will have applied this “law of attraction” to “co-create with the universe”.

If this is starting to sound a bit too woo woo for you, then walk with me for a moment.

To be more specific, as a teacher, instead of using the term, “co-create with the universe” I prefer “collaborate with the learning life force”. Educational and psychological research supports the existence of the human urge to learn, that is, the learning life force and learning theories that describe how people learn and why they don’t. You can read more about the learning life force, learning style awareness, and the learning cycle in How You Learn is How You Live: Using nine ways of learning to transformation your life by Kay Peterson and David A Kolb.

The skills, knowledge and experience you gain from each manifestation process you attempt – with or without success – are transferable. They can be used to manifest your future at large. Experimenting with the manifestation process is an effective starting point on the road to authoring your own life.

Sometimes, the only way to lure you into taking charge of your life is to tempt you with a little magic.
