Your Portal to Presence

Conscious breathing is a simple, profound act that restores balance and presence. With each intentional inhale and exhale, the scattered thoughts of my mind begin to soften, allowing space for clarity and peace. It’s my go-to portal to presence, a grounding that shifts my awareness from thinking and analysing to simply experiencing a sense of at-one-ment.

Pause, inhale, exhale, focus and refocus.

Here’s how to do it.

1. Pause: Stop whatever you’re doing and bring your full attention to your breath.

2. Inhale deeply: Breathe in slowly through your nose, feeling the air fill your lungs and expand your chest.

3. Exhale slowly: Release the air gently through your mouth, noticing the sensation as it leaves.

4. Focus your awareness: With each breath, bring your attention to the sensations: cool air entering, warm air leaving, the rise and fall of your chest.

5. Return to awareness: when your mind wanders, as it will naturally do, then with loving kindness gently bring it back to focusing your awareness on your breath.

This process shifts my focus from my thoughts to sensory experience and by grounding me in the present moment, it creates a clearer state of present mindedness.

In the rhythm of the breath, I invite you to find refuge from mental noise and a busy mind. Let the breath move like a tide, washing over doubt, worry, and restlessness, as it gently guides you back to the stillness of the moment. Presence is not something to chase. It’s always here, waiting for you to enter it.
