Collaborating with your archetypes works like magic when it comes to recognising possibilities and solutions. It puts you in touch with your inner wisdom. It will coax your creative potential out of hiding. Here’s the thing. It seems like magic, but it’s a simple, alchemical process.
This is what it takes to connect with your inner wisdom, and to release your intuition and creative potential with the support of your personal archetypes. I’ve outlined it in six stages below:
1. Preparation
This is where we identify your issue or problem. Then we pose it as a question. That way, it becomes your quest, or your goal. Next, you would select appropriate archetypes to assist you. I would guide you through a mental contrasting process as you brainstorm positive and negative associations for each archetype, all within the context of your quest. This will identify outcomes and expose obstacles that will serve to generate the bones of a strategy or a plan forward. The process will assist you to generate ideas as you let your thoughts flow unedited, without judgment or restriction.
Creativity and intuition rely on your ability to let your thoughts (or your vision) flow unedited, without judgement or restriction. You can evaluate to adjust later.
2. Incubation
Next, you would let your prep work mull. Incubation is where your mind, at a subconscious level, processes the information you’ve gathered. At this point, you can take a break from active problem-solving. When you’re in this essential phase, you can imagine how easy it is to mistake incubation for a creative block. But it’s not. (That’s a story for another day.) Just let your ideas marinate so that connections can form naturally in their own time. When it’s done, you can expect a breakthrough.
3. Breakthrough
This is when a sudden realisation or insight occurs. Often when you least expect it, a new idea or solution emerges as a result of the subconscious work done during incubation. At this point you’ll experience some form of illumination. You might experience an insight, an aha moment, or even an epiphany.
4. Evaluation
At this stage, we assess your insights to determine feasibility, relevance, and potential impact. You can refine your insights, identify potential flaws, and consider how they fit within the broader context of your quest. You’ll expand your idea into a tangible strategy or a plan to guide your actions.
5. Implementation
This stage involves implementing your solution or strategy, or acting on your plan. So far, you’ve identified and explored the potential of your quest. You’ve identified outcomes and noted obstacles within the context of your quest, you’ve gathered your insights, and so you will have a strategy to guide your actions. You might seek assistance and feedback from trusted friends, family, colleagues or other professionals to assist you.
6. Reflection
Reflection is how we learn from experience. After implementation, you would reflect on the entire process that led you to where you are now. Together we would identify what you didn’t know before you started this process, what you know now, what worked well, and what could be improved. Again, you might seek additional feedback. You’ll need to recognise how your experience can inform your future quests.
As you cycle through the stages of this process, you’ll refine your ability to be more creative. And I can safely say, you will build on your intuitive skills, because you’re learning to access your inner wisdom to produce outcomes that align with the promptings of your soul.
