One More Reason Why We Don’t Fulfill Our Life Purpose

Over-caring for those I love may, unintentionally, lead to under-caring for myself. It’s a delicate line, one that many who prioritise the well-being of others struggle to navigate. The instinct to support, nurture, and give can become so consuming that self-care takes a back seat, often without realisation.

Yet, when I take responsibility for my own self-care first, before extending care to others, the benefits ripple through multiple areas of my life and positively impact those around me. Self-care is not selfish. It is foundational.

By ensuring my own well-being, I am:
✔ Stronger in my ability to support others with stability and presence.
✔ More emotionally, mentally, and spiritually aligned.
✔ Less prone to burnout, resentment, and exhaustion.
✔ Able to engage meaningfully in relationships rather than merely enduring them.

When I care for myself adequately and consistently, I become ready, willing, and fully able to fulfill my life purpose.

Self-care is not a luxury. It’s a necessity.

Without it, imbalance creeps in. Energy depletes. And the very people I wish to serve end up receiving a fragmented version of me rather than my whole, vibrant presence. Honouring both giving and receiving, both nurturing and being nurtured, keeps my life in equilibrium. This is the true essence of balance, where care flows harmoniously inward and outward, sustaining both myself and those I cherish.
